Laura grew up on Alabama’s Gulf Coast in Fairhope. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama Honors College with a degree in communications. Throughout her 20-year career, Laura's passion for writing has landed her in unique roles. In Nashville, she worked for one of the South’s largest PR firms, McNeely, Pigott & Fox, representing clients in healthcare, education, manufacturing, tourism and banking. Laura served as director of marketing for Visit Pensacola during the city's 450th anniversary and BP oil spill, working with CNN, The New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal. As a writer in Alabama, she interviewed fashion designer Billy Reid, sportscaster Rece Davis and musician Mac McAnally and co-authored, The Shoals. As a Florida-based travel editor for Where magazine, she managed 18 publications a year, interviewing Disney Imagineers and celebrity chefs. In Louisiana, she helped launch SYNKD magazine for landscape professionals. She has contributed to Orlando magazine, Richmond magazine, Virginia Living, Our State, Virginia Business and Scary Mommy as well as tourism destinations such as Richmond, Lynchburg, Winston-Salem, Pinehurst, Bluffton and Hilton Head Island. Laura especially enjoys covering social issues, family matters and tourism and travel.
